Chobham Manor is in the Stratford Olympic Park Area and a police ward panel has recently been re-established to build contact between the police and residents in relation to issues of safety, crime and security. The CMRA welcomes its development and looks forward to work with the ward panel and in partnership with other estates and our landlords and managing agents and the LLDC.
A ward panel is a group of community representatives (residents, businesses, youth groups, educational establishments, voluntary groups etc .), including representatives from the local police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).
Panel to meet once every three months.
Our one will be called - Safety Ward Panel – Stratford Olympic Park Area.
The aim of the panel is to set local SNT ward priorities and hold the SNT to account for issues affecting the community.
Ward panels are an important way for the police to obtain the views of the community about crime and disorder in a neighbourhood and for police to provide information on policing to communities.
Ward Panels allow the police service to meet its statutory obligation to connect with the community under s.34 Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.

Attend meeting once every three months.
Collect information on neighbourhood crime issues effecting the area/people they represent, collate it and discuss at the meeting which will help reps decide on priorities.
Distribute via social media flyers produced by panel.
At the ward panel meeting, reps will feed information and emerging issues directly to local officers, helping to shape and deliver local priorities and inform supervisors.
At each meeting following discussions, a decision will need to be made to set three neighbourhood crime priorities.
Setting ward ‘smart’ priorities
Priority 1 – This will be set by the Safer Neighbourhood Team to include violence or drivers of violence. This broad category can include all violence types and can include gangs, drugs, domestic assaults, violence against women and vulnerable people, public space safety, alcohol fuelled violence and antisocial behaviour linked to violence.
Priority 2 – Local priority to be set by the ward panel.
Priority 3 – Local priority to be set by the ward panel.
Ward panel decisions must be evidence-based and inform, influence and involve both the community and police officers as part of a continuous cycle of feedback, review and action.
