Looking for a way to meet new people and be a part of the community? Join one of our existing clubs! We think there is room for lots of clubs and it just needs us connecting up to make them happen. What about a chess club, a cricket club, a walking club or film club. If two or three residents want to get together and start a club we can advertise it on this website.
If YOU want to start a club or you are already running one on the estate, please, let us know at clubs@chobhammanor.org. We'd love to help you!
Despite their efforts L&Q have difficulty employing and keeping gardeners for the estate. We are proposing a rethink and are keen on senior management reviewing alternative ways of employing gardeners. Following the recent walkaround we have we look forward to working with them and with L&Q to bring the grounds, gardens, and green spaces up to a standard we can be proud of. Read more about it here. We have set up the Chobham Manor Gardening Club to help monitor and develop the grounds to a decent standard. We started with five members initially and would warmly welcome others to join. If you are interested in joining or helping email the clubs@chobhammanor.org or look out for notices of our gardening events. Read more about it here.
There are two book clubs on the estate. New members are welcome and to join one or get advice on forming one ask clubs@chobhammanor.org
Meanwhile, here's what one of the clubs say about their meetings: "Born out of the 2020 lockdown, we're a cozy group from Chobham Manor, diving into books across genres. Meeting every 5-6 weeks, we enjoy lively discussions, diverse readings, and of course, great food and drinks. With our secretary Lynne tracking our literary journey, and open spots for new members, we're not just a book club but a circle of friends eagerly awaiting our next gathering."
Julia Moody who has been running this friendly and activity-based club at her home says of the stitch in time. ‘It is very simple. I put the kettle on, get the sewing machines out and pour a glass of something at 7pm, once a month. People bring along their stitching, knitting and weaving, we share stories, ideas, new friendship, mending and making things along the way. It’s been good fun. Anyone is welcome to join the subgroup on the Chobham Manor WhatsApp group or email clubs@chobhammanor.org for more info.
The EV users’ group was set up to introduce new EV owners to the charging facility within Chobham Manor and to help qualified users to apply for an EV parking permit and to access the Podpoint charging app.
The EV Users cooperative also acts as a lobby group to both maintain and improve the current EV provision. To join, look for our group in the Chobham Manor WhatsApp community.
