Do you like your fruit and veg fresh, local and organically grown? Then you’re living in the right place! Chobham Manor residents are lucky to have a pick up point on the estate where you can collect your bag of seasonal, organic fruit and vegetables. Most of the produce is grown at the Hawkwood Plant Nursery, on the edge of Epping Forest in Chingford less than five miles from Chobham Manor upstream in the Lea Valley.
Weekly Orders
Its a simple process to order your preferred fruit and vegetable bags, small or large depending on your needs and household size, which are delivered towards the end of each week at the pick up point towards the end of the rain garden at the west end of Villiers Gardens. While you’re there you can even pick some fresh herbs for your own use for free from our community herb garden which is right next to the pick up point. Don’t be greedy though the herbs are mean for all residents!
Fair Prices
Orders are managed and paid for online and cost between £9.10 and £20 depending on the amount you need. Organic Lea, which is a workers cooperative, accept Healthy Start vouchers and also run a Solidarity Scheme where those who can area encouraged to pay a little more for their bags and those who need it are encouraged to take a discount.
Visit the Nursery
You can also visit the Hawkwood nursery where there are regular open days with plant and food sales and special events. Its a great day out for families and can be reached by using the cycle routes along the river, or on foot via a beautiful 20 minute walk through Epping Forest from Chingford train station.
