We are happy to announce the 2024 Jumble Trail! Come trade and have fun with us on Saturday 7th September in Villiers Garden.
The CMRA has obtained a draft notice of a new traffic restriction will block motor vehicles from entering or exiting Abercrombie Road at Temple Mill Lane—except for emergency services, council vehicles, and essential maintenance.
How This Affects You
🚗 No more direct access to Temple Mill Lane from Abercrombie Road.
🔄 Traffic will be pushed through Honour Lea Avenue and Villiers Gardens, which will likely affect the smaller streets of Chobham Manor which weren’t designed for through traffic.
🚶 Pedestrians and cyclists may find these streets busier with cars looking for a shortcut.
Why is this happening?
The Council is testing this change for at least six months to see if it reduces traffic overall.
What the Council Could Be Missing?
In theory we have small streets that have local access only signs, e.g. Peloton Avenue, which theoretically means drivers should not be using Villiers Gardens for through traffic. However, currently there is no effective enforcement of these rules and through traffic regularly passes through.
What Can You Do?
This isn’t permanent yet. If you think this will make Chobham Manor’s streets worse, make sure you contact the council in the next six months and express your concerns and give them feedback.
📩 Email your feedback to traffic.orders@newham.gov.uk.
If enough people raise concerns, they may reconsider. Don’t wait—have your say!
